Alec Cattarin works for Microsoft as an image quality technician. He spends his time in a lab evaluating and testing camera performance across Microsoft products. He received his Bachelor of Science from Seattle University in Physics with an emphasis in Astro-physics. He enjoys running, triathlons, yoga, hiking, outdoor activities, photography, and volunteer work. One of his greatest hobbies is videography, which he has slowly grown into a unique skill set. It was this skill that brought him to Kampala Uganda and the Destiny orphanage in 2012. There he filmed and documented the lives of Ugandans living in the Katwe slums of Kampala as well as the youth of Uganda at Destiny Orphanage. Through his lens his heart witnessed a profound joy in the midst of incredible hardship. It wasn’t until he finally put the camera down and helped to rescue a dying baby that was unwanted by her mother that his heart and life’s work changed.
